Canon PL-C B FILTER (77MM)
Canon PL-C B FILTER (77MM) | Manage reflections while composing
Without a polarizing filter, reflections on glass or water can compete with the subject, and a blue sky may look flatter than it did to your eye. The Canon PL-C B is a polarizing filter for photographers who want to adjust those effects while composing, rather than rely on editing afterwards. Turn the filter while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen and watch the reflections change; the result depends on your angle to the light, so small adjustments can make a difference. It’s particularly useful for shop-window scenes, water and outdoor views where glare is part of the frame. If your pictures rarely include reflective surfaces or strong skies, you may not need a polarizer in place. For those scenes, this filter gives you a direct way to shape what you see before you take the picture.
Specialist Note
At a shop window, I’d turn the Canon PL-C B slowly while watching the reflections, stopping when the display behind the glass is clear but the scene still feels natural. The 77mm size means you’ll want a lens with a matching filter thread. Its polarizing action is useful beside still water, too: adjust your angle, then rotate the filter to decide how much surface glare to keep. This suits photographers who like to make those choices as they frame, rather than leave the whole effect to editing. One honest point: the result changes with your angle to the light, so you won’t get the same effect from every viewpoint.
