Cokin Filter A022 Blue (80C)
Cokin Filter A022 Blue (80C) | Give colour a deliberate blue cast
Without a filter, a blue look is usually added during editing. The Cokin Filter A022 Blue (80C) gives you a physical colour filter to consider when you want that effect to be part of your image-making. It suits photographers who enjoy shaping colour in-camera, or who want to explore a more stylised result than neutral colour alone. Its appeal is in that direct, purposeful blue treatment: use it when the colour shift is part of the idea, rather than something you’re trying to correct later. For a graphic composition, try framing a pale or neutral subject against darker surroundings so the blue colour treatment is easy to see. It’s a specialised filter rather than an all-purpose option, so it makes most sense when you have a clear reason to introduce blue into the scene.
Specialist Note
For a deliberately blue-toned detail in an architectural frame, I’d reach for the A022 and include a pale wall or other neutral surface in the composition. The “Blue” name tells you the colour direction this filter is intended for, so think of it as a creative choice rather than a way to keep colours neutral. I’d also keep the 80C marking to hand when selecting the filter: it gives you the exact designation to look for, rather than relying on the colour name alone. It suits someone who wants colour to be part of the shot itself. One limitation is simple: if faithful, neutral colour is the goal, this is the wrong effect to introduce.
