DZOFILM Pavo 2X Anamorphic Prime 40mm T2.1 Neutral Coating, Canon EF Mount | Create a wider cinematic frame

Your footage gets a wider cinematic composition, with the distinctive perspective of 2X anamorphic capture. The DZOFILM Pavo 2X Anamorphic Prime 40mm T2.1 is an interchangeable prime lens for filmmakers who want that look and are ready to plan for its squeeze in monitoring and post-production. Its 40mm focal length gives you a practical starting point for dialogue scenes, close-ups and composed shots where horizontal space matters. The maximum T2.1 aperture gives you room to work in lower light and lets you control depth of field. This is a manual-focus lens, so it suits deliberate camera work where focus can be managed as part of the shot, rather than situations that depend on autofocus. With a Canon EF mount, it’s made for a Canon EF setup. Choose it for controlled filmmaking where the anamorphic frame is part of the visual plan.

Specialist Note

First-time anamorphic owners often frame by the squeezed monitor image and only think about the final proportions later; with this 2X Pavo, plan around the de-squeezed image from the outset. I’d use it for a dialogue close-up or a carefully composed interior, leaving room across the frame for the wider result. Opening to T2.1 can help when light is limited and gives you less depth in focus, so take your time with the manual focus pull. That hands-on approach suits a controlled set, but it does ask for a focus plan. If you need autofocus to follow an unpredictable subject, this isn’t the lens I’d choose.
