eXtreme Ways head strap mount
eXtreme Ways head strap mount | Hands-free first-person footage
To film from the direction you’re looking, a head strap mount gives an action camera a wearer-level viewpoint and leaves your hands free for the activity. The eXtreme Ways head strap mount is an ActionCam accessory for that kind of first-person recording. Its defining detail is simple: it’s a head strap mount. That makes it relevant when you want the camera to follow your movement rather than stay in your hand. The footage can show what was in front of you as you moved, giving viewers a direct sense of your perspective. It suits people recording activities where holding a camera would interrupt the moment, or anyone who wants an on-person angle for a short sequence. One honest point to bear in mind: the image follows your head, so looking around changes the framing too. Consider that before you start recording, especially if you want the subject to stay in view.
Choosing what the camera sees
Think of a head-level view as a deliberate storytelling angle, rather than a neutral record of the whole activity. It follows where the wearer turns, so a glance to the side can shift the frame. That can make a clip feel immediate: viewers see the scene from your position instead of watching you from a distance. It also means the camera follows your direction of attention, which may not include every detail happening around you.
For a clearer sequence, decide what you want people to notice, then face it for a moment before moving on. If the activity involves frequent turns, expect the framing to move with them. This viewpoint works well for short passages where the action ahead matters. In longer footage, changes in gaze may be part of the story, but they can make the subject less consistent. Keep that in mind when planning a shot: the appeal is the personal angle, not a frame that stays composed by itself.
