Formatt Hitech FC 82mm Superslim Stackable Cir.pol.
Formatt Hitech FC 82mm Superslim Stackable Cir.pol. | Reduce reflections outdoors
Reflections on water, glass and glossy surfaces can hide the detail you want to photograph. The Formatt Hitech FC 82mm Superslim Stackable Cir.pol. is a circular polarizing filter that helps reduce those reflections, and can deepen the look of a blue sky when the light is at a useful angle. It’s suited to photographers who want more control over glare and contrast in outdoor scenes, or who often photograph through windows. The 82mm size is the key detail when choosing it: it needs to match the filter size of the lens you intend to use it with. Its superslim, stackable design is aimed at photographers who want to combine filters without adding unnecessary bulk at the front of the lens. A polarizer’s effect depends on the direction of the light, so it works best when you can adjust your framing and angle rather than expecting the same result in every scene.
Specialist Note
The 82mm size makes this a considered buy for a particular lens, rather than a filter to move freely between every lens in a kit. In return, the superslim profile is a sensible detail if you plan to stack filters: it keeps the front of the setup slimmer, though extra layers can still affect the image at the edges. I’d use the polarizing effect to calm reflections in a shop window or on water, adjusting the filter’s angle while watching the scene until the glare drops. It can also help give a blue sky more definition in a landscape. If you mainly photograph indoors under flat light, you may get less out of it.
