Formatt Hitech Firecrest 39mm Superslim UV IR Cut
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 39mm Superslim UV IR Cut | Slim-profile UV and IR filtration
When your setup calls for control of both ultraviolet and infrared light, a bulky filter rim can be an unwelcome addition at the front of a lens. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest 39mm Superslim UV IR Cut is designed for that specific job, with a slim profile and a UV/IR-cut function in one filter. It suits photographers whose lens takes a 39mm filter and whose workflow calls for limiting transmission in those wavelength ranges. Its appeal is practical rather than creative: it isn’t a polariser or an exposure-darkening filter, but a focused option for UV and IR filtration. The Superslim design keeps the filter’s profile low, which may matter when you want to keep the front of your lens setup compact. If UV and IR control are what you need, this filter keeps the purpose clear and the setup simple.
Specialist Note
“Is this Firecrest filter for controlling both UV and IR light?” Yes—that’s exactly what its UV IR Cut designation tells you. The 39mm size means you’ll need a lens with a matching filter thread; check the marking on the lens itself. Its Superslim profile keeps the rim low, which is useful if you’re trying to avoid adding much bulk at the front of a compact setup. I’d consider it for daylight landscape work where UV filtration is wanted, or for an imaging workflow that specifically calls for IR control. In either case, screw it onto the matching lens thread. It’s a specialist filter, not a substitute for an ND or polarising filter.
