Freewell Brandon Li Variable ND/CPL Pro Kit - 82mm
Freewell Brandon Li Variable ND/CPL Pro Kit - 82mm | Adjust light and reflections
The defining choice is the 82mm filter size: it gives you a clear match to look for on your lens before you plan a setup. This Freewell kit combines variable ND and CPL filter functions, making it relevant when you want to manage both the amount of light reaching the camera and reflections in a scene. Variable ND is useful when you need to reduce light without changing your framing; a CPL can help cut reflections from surfaces such as glass or water. That makes the kit worth considering for video work in bright conditions, or for photographs where reflected glare distracts from the subject. The Brandon Li name and “Pro Kit” designation are part of the product title, but they don’t tell us extra details about its construction or operation. The practical starting point is simple: check that your lens takes an 82mm filter, then consider whether these two kinds of light control suit the way you shoot.
Think about the scenes where you most want control. A variable ND function gives you a way to reduce incoming light as conditions change, while the CPL function addresses reflections rather than overall brightness. Those are different tasks, and that distinction matters: reducing light won’t, by itself, remove glare from a reflective surface. For a bright outdoor video scene, the ND function is the relevant one; for a view through a window, the polarising function is the one to consider. The product name gives the filter size, but not a wider compatibility list, so the 82mm thread is the detail to use when matching it to a lens.
Specialist Note
You can think in terms of the problem in front of you—too much light, or distracting reflections—rather than treating both controls as the same adjustment. The variable ND function is useful when bright conditions call for less light reaching the camera; the CPL function is aimed at reflections on glass or water. I’d consider it for outdoor video where you want to manage exposure, or for photographing a scene through a shop window and reducing reflected glare. The 82mm size is the practical check: your lens needs an 82mm filter thread. This kit’s name doesn’t give us a specific range or control layout, so I wouldn’t assume how far its adjustment goes.
