Light control and operation

• Twenty-step flash adjustment: Set the output in twenty increments to balance the three heads for the scene in front of you. That gives you finer control than choosing between just a few fixed power levels.
• 0.4–2.5-second recycling: The E300 heads recycle in as little as 0.4 seconds, with the stated range extending to 2.5 seconds. That keeps the pace moving during a portrait or fashion session as you work through a series of frames.
• Adjustable flash duration: Flash duration ranges from 1/2000 to 1/800 second. It’s a specific working range to consider when setting up a shot that calls for a shorter or longer flash burst.
• LED display and stored settings: A clear LED screen shows the selected values on the flash head. Changes are saved automatically, so settings remain in place when you return to the setup.
• 150W modelling lamp: Each head has a modelling lamp with nine brightness levels. Adjusting its brightness lets you set the lamp’s level before firing the flash.
• Several firing options: Trigger the heads with a sync cable, the test button, slave triggering or the included wireless FT-16 set. This gives you more than one way to fire the flashes as your studio arrangement changes.
• Different ways to shape light: Use the included softbox, umbrella or BD-03 barndoor set to alter the light. The barndoor kit includes four colour filters and a honeycomb for more directed and coloured effects.

Good to know

The E300 heads include an anti-preflash function, useful in setups where a preflash could otherwise affect triggering. The FT-16 set also offers remote adjustment of the flash output and modelling lamp, and lets you switch the trigger and buzzer on or off. It’s a handy detail when the heads are positioned around a set and you want to make adjustments from the trigger.
