GREEN.L IR720 77mm Infra-Red

GREEN.L IR720 77mm Infra-Red | Explore infrared photography

Without an infrared filter, a camera records the scene in the visible light we normally see. The GREEN.L IR720 is made for photographers who want to explore infrared imagery instead, from striking foliage to buildings rendered with a different tonal character. It’s a specialist filter, so it suits someone keen to experiment rather than anyone simply looking for a general-purpose lens filter. You can use it to make infrared the starting point of a photograph, whether you’re interested in unusual landscapes or more graphic architectural studies. The results depend on how your camera responds to infrared light, so expect some trial and adjustment as you find an approach that works for your setup. That hands-on process is part of the appeal: this filter gives you a way to make images that look quite different from an ordinary visible-light photograph.

Getting started with infrared

Begin with a scene that has clear shapes and contrast, such as leafy trees against a bright sky or a building with strong lines. Make a few test exposures and adjust as needed; infrared work can call for a different exposure approach from your usual photography. Review the files as you go, and keep notes on settings that give you a result you like. That’s a more reliable starting point than assuming your regular exposure habits will translate unchanged.
