GREEN.L MC-CPL 77mm
GREEN.L MC-CPL 77mm | Control glare and reflections
Reducing reflections from water, glass and glossy leaves can reveal detail that glare would otherwise hide; a polarizer can also deepen the contrast between a blue sky and clouds. The GREEN.L MC-CPL 77mm is a 77mm polarizing filter for photographers who want to manage those effects while taking the picture. It suits landscape scenes, architecture with reflective windows, and everyday shooting where glare masks colour or detail. Its effect changes with your position relative to the light, so adjust the filter while viewing the scene and stop when the result looks right. A polarizer won’t remove every reflection, and its effect on the sky is strongest when you’re shooting roughly at right angles to the sun. Use it when reflected highlights are distracting; ease off if you want to keep some sheen in the image. It gives you a way to control how reflections and sky appear in the finished frame.
Specialist Note
Glare that hides detail is the problem this filter is designed to address. The 77mm size makes fit easy to identify: use it with a lens that has a matching 77mm filter thread. As a polarizing filter, it can reduce distracting reflections from water or glass; turn it while watching the scene and stop when you’ve kept the detail you want without removing every highlight. For a landscape, adjust it in the viewfinder with the sun roughly to one side to bring more contrast into the sky. I’d suggest it when reflections are the specific issue you’re trying to solve. The result depends on your shooting angle, so it won’t have the same effect in every direction.
