H&Y HD EVO-Series White Mist 1/8 Filter Kit 72mm
H&Y HD EVO-Series White Mist 1/8 Filter Kit 72mm | Gentle highlight bloom for softer images
Bright highlights can look sharp and clinical, especially in portraits and scenes with point light sources. The H&Y HD EVO-Series White Mist 1/8 Filter Kit adds a restrained mist-like bloom around highlights and softens the overall impression, while keeping the effect gentler than a heavily diffused look. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want a more atmospheric rendering in camera rather than adding the effect later in editing. Try it for portraits with bright backgrounds, or for evening scenes where small lights can benefit from a softer glow. The 72mm size is for setups that take a 72mm filter; the filter’s effect is the reason to choose it, not a claim that it replaces a clear protective filter. It’s a considered option when you want a subtle change to the way highlights read, without making the whole image look overtly hazy.
Specialist Note
The 1/8 strength is deliberately restrained, so it won’t turn a crisp scene into heavy, dreamy haze. That’s exactly why I’d consider it for natural-looking portraits: place a bright window or backlight in the scene and the highlights gain a softer character without taking over the face. For evening lights, the same gentle bloom can give point sources a less hard-edged feel. The 72mm size matters when you’re choosing for a lens that takes that filter diameter, so match the size to your setup. One honest limit: the effect is in the image once you’ve taken it, so keep it subtle if you need maximum crispness.
