The H&Y K-Series Reverse GND Filter is made for that kind of scene: its reverse graduated neutral-density effect is intended to control the brightest area around the horizon while leaving the rest of the composition less affected. That makes it especially relevant to landscape photographers working with a fairly level horizon, from open coastlines to wide fields. Its ND1.2 rating corresponds to a four-stop reduction in light, useful when you need to bring a bright sky into a more workable exposure range without relying on separate exposures for the sky and foreground. If the skyline rises and falls sharply, a graduated filter can darken parts of it too, so this design is best suited to scenes where the horizon’s position is predictable.

The black magnetic frame gives this filter a clear, practical handling detail: it’s made to work as part of H&Y’s K-Series magnetic filter setup, rather than as a loose piece of glass. I’d consider it for a sunset over calm water, where the reverse graduation can help manage the bright strip near the horizon. The ND1.2 rating is four stops, so if your unfiltered meter reading is 1/30 sec, you can use 1/2 sec at the same aperture and ISO for a longer water exposure. It suits deliberate landscape work; an uneven skyline may put the dark part of the gradient over buildings or trees.
