Hahnemühle DFA Testpack - Matt Textured 21x29.7CM(A4)

Hahnemühle DFA Testpack - Matt Textured 21x29.7CM(A4) | Judge a matte, textured paper for yourself

The useful difference here is right in the name: this is a testpack of matte, textured printer paper, rather than a single untextured sheet. It suits anyone who wants to judge how a textured surface feels and looks in a print before settling on a paper. The A4 format gives you a familiar page size for that assessment. Use it to make a print you can examine closely, or to compare how the same image looks on different paper surfaces you already have. Texture can change the impression a print makes, so your own image is a better guide than a description alone. One honest point: the title tells you the surface and format, but not how many sheets are in the pack. If sheet count matters to your plans, that detail isn’t available here.

How to get a useful test

Choose an image you know well, then look at the print in the light where you’d normally view or display it. Pay attention to how the surface affects the parts of the image that matter to you: fine detail, smooth tones, and areas of strong colour. Those are things to assess on your own print, not promises about the result. If you’re comparing papers, keep the image and print settings consistent where possible; that makes it easier to tell whether the surface is contributing to the difference you see. A testpack is most helpful when you have a specific print in mind, rather than judging the paper from its name alone. Take your time with the result. The right surface is a matter of how you want the finished print to look and feel.
