Hawke RS Fastmount 3-12x50 AO 1 IR Mil

Hawke RS Fastmount 3-12x50 AO 1 IR Mil | Variable power with a Mil reticle

For viewing a target at different levels of magnification, the Hawke RS Fastmount 3-12x50 AO 1 IR Mil offers a 3-12x range and a 50 mm objective. The variable power lets you choose a lower or higher magnification to suit the view you want; the Mil reticle gives you a defined aiming reference. It’s an optic for someone who wants those specific elements in one model, rather than a fixed-power view. The name also identifies AO and IR, terms used in the model designation. In practical terms, the useful starting point is the combination: variable magnification, a 50 mm objective and a Mil reticle. That makes the product’s intended appeal clear without assuming details about its fit or setup.

The 3-12x span gives you room to adjust the view instead of being tied to one magnification. A lower setting keeps the view less enlarged, while a higher one brings more magnification to the same view. The Mil reticle is the defining reticle detail in the name, and IR indicates an illuminated reticle. AO refers to an adjustable objective. Those details are often what buyers want to pin down when comparing optic model names, so they’re worth reading as part of the product’s identity—not as a promise about settings or performance that the name doesn’t specify. If you’re narrowing a choice by magnification range, objective size and reticle type, this Hawke gives you a straightforward set of terms to compare. The honest point is that the title alone doesn’t tell the whole story of how an optic will suit a particular setup; it does give you a clear set of core identifiers.
