Kaiser Ontwikkelschaal 24x30 Black

Kaiser Ontwikkelschaal 24x30 Black | A clearly sized tray for darkroom work

The defining choice is the 24 × 30 format: it gives you a clear size reference when planning a darkroom setup. Kaiser’s Ontwikkelschaal is a developing tray for photographers working with print development, and the black finish gives it a straightforward, distinctive look. It’s suited to a home darkroom or a shared workspace where you’re choosing trays around the space and print sizes you work with. A developing tray is a practical part of the process: it holds the solution in which photographic prints are developed. The useful point here is knowing the named size before you make room for it. If you’re arranging a bench, measure the space you intend to use and consider how the tray will sit alongside the other parts of your workflow. There’s no mystery to the choice; the format and colour are right there in the name.

For a darkroom setup, dimensions matter because trays need to fit your working area as well as the way you handle prints. Use the 24 × 30 designation as your starting point when deciding where this one belongs. It’s also a handy reference when you’re keeping your darkroom equipment organised by size. The product name identifies it as a developing tray, so it’s intended for that part of print work rather than being a general-purpose storage container.

One honest note: the size alone won’t tell you whether it suits every print you make or every work surface you use. Think about your usual print format and available bench space before settling on a tray size. If 24 × 30 is the format you’re looking for, this Kaiser tray keeps the choice simple: a named developing tray in black, for darkroom use. It’s a practical item, and its appeal is in having the right size reference for your setup—not in a long list of extra claims.
