Kase Revolution Plus ND8 95mm

Kase Revolution Plus ND8 95mm | Control bright light by three stops

Bright daylight can force you to use a faster shutter speed than you want, especially when you’re trying to show movement in water or keep a wide aperture. The Kase Revolution Plus ND8 95mm is a neutral-density filter: it reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you more room to choose your exposure. ND8 means an eightfold reduction, or three stops, so a shutter speed of 1/125 sec can become roughly 1/15 sec at the same exposure, with the other settings unchanged. That makes this filter useful for adding a little more motion blur or holding a wider aperture in bright conditions. It suits photographers whose lens or filter setup takes a 95mm filter and who want a moderate reduction in light. It’s a defined, three-stop step—not a heavy reduction for very long exposures in strong sunshine.

What three stops can do

With the ND8 fitted, you can slow the shutter without changing the brightness of the final exposure. For a stream or fountain, that can help soften moving water; for a portrait outdoors, it can give you more scope to keep the aperture wide in daylight. The result still depends on the scene and your chosen exposure. This filter changes the light level, not the subject’s movement or the light itself, so it won’t create motion blur if your shutter speed remains fast.
