Kelvin PLAY-LK1
Kelvin PLAY-LK1 | A UV filter for everyday lens protection
When you’re shooting outdoors and don’t want to keep reaching for the lens cap between frames, a UV filter can stay on the front of the lens as an extra layer. The Kelvin PLAY-LK1 is listed as a UV filter, so it suits photographers who want this type of filter in place while they work. UV filters are commonly used to help shield the front of a lens from everyday contact with dust or fingerprints; they’re also traditionally associated with reducing the effect of ultraviolet light. The practical appeal is straightforward: you can keep shooting without handling the front element as often. It’s a simple option for regular walks, travel days or busy working environments where a cap would interrupt the moment. Choose it when a UV filter is the kind of front-of-lens protection you want, rather than expecting it to change your exposure or create a particular visual effect.
A filter still needs to match the diameter of the lens you intend to use it with. That’s worth checking against the lens markings before you buy, since the product name alone doesn’t identify a size. A UV filter is also not a substitute for the lens cap when the camera is packed away; the two serve different roles in day-to-day handling.
Specialist Note
The Kelvin PLAY-LK1 gives you a way to keep a UV filter over the lens while you’re shooting, instead of repeatedly taking the cap off and putting it back on. I’d consider it for everyday outdoor photography or for a busy street scene, where avoiding extra contact with the front element is useful. Its defining detail is that it’s a UV filter, so think of it as a protective layer rather than a creative-effects filter. Kelvin is the brand and PLAY-LK1 the model name; use both when identifying this specific item. One practical point: match the filter diameter to your lens, and keep using the cap for storage.
