LaCie 2big 12TB Thunderbolt&USB3 7.2k Thunderbolt 2-Bay RAID
LaCie 2big 12TB Thunderbolt&USB3 7.2k Thunderbolt 2-Bay RAID | 12TB desktop storage with Thunderbolt and USB 3
When a project folder, a growing photo archive or a run of video files starts to crowd your computer’s storage, a dedicated desktop drive can make the working setup easier to manage. The LaCie 2big is an external HDD with 12TB of capacity, a 7.2k drive and a two-bay RAID design. It offers Thunderbolt and USB 3 connections, so you can choose between the two interfaces named for this model. That combination makes it a practical fit for photographers, editors and other creative teams who want substantial local storage at their desk, rather than a small drive to carry around. Its strength is straightforward: a large stated capacity in a two-bay desktop RAID unit, with two connection types. It’s a focused storage option for keeping sizable working files close at hand; RAID details beyond the two-bay design aren’t assumed here.
A desktop drive for a growing archive
There’s a useful distinction between a drive for taking files on the move and one that stays at a workstation. The 2big belongs in the latter role. If your projects tend to accumulate source files and finished work, a single dedicated storage unit can help keep that material separate from the computer’s own storage. The two-bay RAID layout is part of what defines this model, though RAID configurations can differ, so it’s sensible not to assume a particular mode from the product name alone. The choice of Thunderbolt or USB 3 also gives you options when planning how the drive fits into your desk setup. In short, this is about keeping a sizeable amount of data available locally, with a desktop-oriented format and clearly stated connection choices. It’s a specialist storage purchase, so the important question is whether this capacity and two-bay format match the way you organise your files.
