Marumi Circ Pola Filter Super DHG 77 mm
Marumi Circ Pola Filter Super DHG 77 mm | Manage reflections and sky glare
Without a polarizing filter, reflections can hide detail in glass, water and glossy leaves. The Marumi Circ Pola Filter Super DHG is made to help control those reflections and bring more definition to scenes where glare gets in the way. It’s a circular polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over how reflected light appears in a picture, particularly for landscape, travel and outdoor work. It can also help give a blue sky more depth when the light and shooting angle are right. The effect depends on how the filter is positioned relative to the light, so it takes a little attention rather than working like an automatic correction. If reflections are part of the atmosphere you want to keep, you can also adjust your approach instead of trying to remove them completely.
Specialist Note
A polarizer reduces the light reaching your camera, so it’s not my first suggestion when you’re already struggling for exposure. Its value is the control it gives you over reflections. The 77 mm size is useful when your lens has a matching filter thread; check the marking on the lens before choosing a filter size. As a circular polarizer, this model is aimed at photographers who want to tune the effect for the scene, rather than accept every reflection as it appears. I’d consider it for water or shop-window pictures where a small change in reflected glare can reveal more of what’s behind the surface.
