Metabones Leica M - E-Mount T

Metabones Leica M - E-Mount T: Use Leica M lenses on Sony E cameras

Use a Leica M lens on a Sony E-mount camera with the Metabones Leica M - E-Mount T adapter. It connects those two mounts and maintains focus at infinity, so distant subjects remain within the lens’s focusing range. That’s useful for framing landscapes, buildings or other far-off details with a Leica M lens on a Sony E camera. The adapter is also intended for everyday use, rather than being described as a specialised tool for a single type of shoot. Inside, its matte finish reduces reflections, a detail that matters when light could bounce around within the adapter behind the lens. Electronic functions aren’t passed to the camera, and autofocus isn’t available through the adapter. In practice, that means this is a straightforward mount connection, not an electronic link between lens and camera. You’ll want to account for the lack of camera-driven autofocus when choosing how to work; the adapter’s job is to make the Leica M-to-Sony E pairing possible. For photographers with Leica M lenses who use Sony E-mount cameras, it provides the specific mount conversion needed, with infinity focus and a reflection-reducing interior as useful details. There’s no more complicated promise here: it joins the mounts, while leaving electronic lens functions behind.

Why it is useful

• Leica M to Sony E conversion: The adapter connects a lens with a Leica M mount to a camera with a Sony E mount. That makes it relevant when you want to use a Leica M lens on your Sony E camera, rather than needing a lens made for the camera’s mount.
• Infinity focus: Focus reaches infinity through the adapter. This matters when your subject is far away, such as a distant building or a broad landscape, since those scenes call for the lens to focus at the far end of its range.
• Matte interior: The inside of the adapter has a matte finish. Its purpose is to minimise reflections within the adapter, a useful design detail in the light path between lens and camera.
• Reduced internal reflections: The matte inner surface is specifically intended to reduce reflections, rather than being only a cosmetic finish. This is relevant when light enters through the lens and could otherwise reflect from the adapter’s interior.
• No electronic feature transfer: Electronic functions aren’t communicated to the camera through this adapter. Keep that in mind if your setup depends on the camera receiving electronic information from the lens; this model provides the mount connection instead.
• Autofocus isn’t passed through: Autofocus is among the functions the adapter doesn’t transfer. It isn’t the right fit for a workflow that relies on camera-driven autofocus through the adapter, so account for that limitation when planning a shoot.
• Made for everyday use: The adapter is described as suitable for regular, everyday use. Its purpose stays specific: connecting Leica M lenses to Sony E-mount cameras, with infinity focus and a matte interior as part of the design.
