Nanlux BE Mount Diffusion Ball 20cm
Nanlux BE Mount Diffusion Ball 20cm - 180° light spread
Hard light from a fixture can leave a face with sharp shadows and bright patches. The Nanlux BE Mount Diffusion Ball 20cm spreads light across 180 degrees, turning that harder source into a softer, broader one. Its 20 cm diameter makes it a useful modifier for interviews, portrait lighting and fill light across a small scene, where more even illumination and gentler shadows are welcome. The ball attaches through a BE-mount connection and is made for selected Nanlux lights with that mount. Its IP66 rating also makes it suitable for lighting work outdoors or in dusty locations. At 230 g, it adds little weight to the fixture. Choose this version when you need the larger 20 cm diffuser and have a compatible BE-mount light; the size is aimed particularly at more powerful fixtures.
Light shaping and build
- 180° light spread: The ball sends light across a broad angle, rather than keeping it concentrated in one direction. That softer, more even spread reduces hard shadows on the subject.
- 20 cm diameter: The larger diffuser gives a BE-mount fixture a broad light-shaping surface. It’s a useful scale for interviews or portraits where you want the light to cover more of the scene.
- BE-mount connection: The ball attaches directly through its BE-mount fitting. It’s intended for selected Nanlux fixtures using this mount, so the fitting is central to choosing the right version.
- 230 g weight: The diffusion ball is relatively light for its size. That keeps the modifier’s own weight modest when it’s attached to a light.
- IP66-rated housing: The rating makes this model suitable for outdoor use and dusty locations. That’s useful when the lighting setup needs to work beyond a clean studio environment.
Specialist Note
Hard shadows across a face are the problem this ball is made to address. I’d use its 180° spread to soften an interview key or make portrait light fall more evenly across the subject: attach it to a compatible Nanlux BE-mount fixture and position the light to cover the area you’re lighting. The 20 cm diameter gives the source a broader surface, while the 230 g weight keeps the modifier itself relatively light. It’s particularly suited to more powerful BE-mount lights and to setups outdoors or in dusty places, thanks to its IP66 rating. Do check that your Nanlux fixture is one of the selected compatible models.
