PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Black Mist - 67mm - McKinnon Series

PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Black Mist - 67mm - McKinnon Series | Shape exposure and soften the image

The defining choice here is combining variable ND and polarizing functions with a Black Mist effect in one 67mm filter. That pairing is for photographers and filmmakers who want to manage exposure and reflections while adding a softer character to the image, rather than treating each aim as a separate filter decision. The VND 2-5 designation gives you a defined range of light reduction to work within; the PL element is for adjusting polarized reflections. Black Mist signals a diffusion look, bringing a gentler rendering to the scene. It’s a considered option for bright outdoor video, reflective surfaces and portraits where you want the image to feel less stark. The McKinnon Series name identifies its place in PolarPro’s range. Choose it for the combination of effects, and for a setup where 67mm is the required filter size.

Using the combined effect

For a bright scene, adjust the variable ND within its 2-5 range to bring exposure under control, then use the PL function to tune reflections on surfaces such as glass or water. The Black Mist effect gives the image a softer character; it’s a distinct look, so it may not suit work where you want a crisp, unsoftened rendering. This combination makes most sense when all three qualities are part of the picture you’re after, rather than when you need only one of them.
