Radius 18cm Nimbus Windshield (24/25) Black Fur
Radius 18cm Nimbus Windshield (24/25) Black Fur | Help tame outdoor wind
The Radius 18cm Nimbus Windshield (24/25) Black Fur is an 18cm furry cover for a microphone, made to help reduce wind noise in outdoor recordings. It suits location sound recordists, video crews and anyone recording speech or ambience where a breeze can disturb the audio. The black fur is the distinctive practical detail: it surrounds the microphone with a wind-resistant outer layer while keeping a low-key appearance on camera. Use it for interviews outside, dialogue on a breezy day or recording environmental sound in exposed places. It’s a focused accessory rather than a fix for every recording problem; wind protection won’t remove traffic, handling noise or other sounds already reaching the microphone. The 24/25 marking identifies this version, so it’s worth matching that designation to the setup you’re buying it for. If wind is the main obstacle, this Nimbus gives you a simple way to address it at the microphone.
Specialist Note
A breezy pavement interview is exactly where a furry windshield earns its place: the speaker’s words matter, and wind across the mic can quickly get in the way. I’d use this 18cm Nimbus when you need a substantial cover around the microphone, rather than relying on a small foam cover alone. The black fur is useful on a visible setup too, as it keeps the microphone looking discreet in the frame. For outdoor dialogue, position the covered mic close enough to the speaker to favour their voice over the surroundings; for ambience, aim it at the sound you want while keeping it sheltered from direct gusts. It can help with wind, but it won’t make a very exposed recording completely quiet.
