Radius Shotgun Mic Foam Windshield 18cm Std Hole
Radius Shotgun Mic Foam Windshield 18cm Std Hole | A simple buffer against light wind
Wind on a microphone can turn a clear outdoor recording into distracting low, rough noise. This foam windshield gives a shotgun mic a simple layer between the microphone and moving air. It suits videographers, interviewers and location-recording teams who want to soften light wind without adding a complicated setup. It’s especially handy for run-and-gun work, where a straightforward cover can help keep dialogue and ambient sound easier to listen to afterwards. Foam is a practical option when you want a simple way to reduce the effect of a light breeze around the mic. It won’t make strong gusts disappear, though, and it can’t replace choosing a more sheltered position when conditions are rough. Think of it as everyday help for breezy exteriors and open locations, rather than a fix for severe wind.
Specialist Note
People new to foam windshields sometimes expect them to silence any wind; they’re better understood as a first line against lighter air movement. With this Radius, the 18cm length is the detail to compare with the part of your shotgun mic you want covered, so don’t choose on the word “shotgun” alone. The standard hole describes the opening, but it doesn’t by itself make this a universal fit. For an outdoor interview, fit it over the mic before recording and listen to a short test in the actual breeze. For location ambience, keep the mic out of direct gusts too. It’s a simple option for light wind; stronger conditions call for more shelter.
