Rycote 12cm Short Hair SFT 19/22
Rycote 12cm Short Hair SFT 19/22 | Short-hair wind cover for microphones
A light breeze can make outdoor dialogue harder to record cleanly, and that’s where a short-hair microphone cover earns its place. The Rycote 12cm Short Hair SFT 19/22 is a microphone accessory for adding a short-haired layer of wind protection, with its size and fit indicated in the product name. It suits sound recordists and video crews who need a specifically sized option for location interviews, spoken-word recordings or other work where the microphone is exposed to moving air. The 12cm designation makes the cover’s length clear, while 19/22 identifies its intended microphone fit. Those details matter when choosing a cover: the right length and barrel fit help you select an accessory for the microphone you’re actually using, rather than relying on a loose or improvised covering. It’s a focused piece of kit for a defined size, not a universal microphone accessory.
Specialist Note
This Rycote is the short-hair option for putting a purpose-made wind cover around a microphone, rather than improvising with a loose covering. I’d point it out to someone recording outdoor interviews or location dialogue who needs the specific 19/22 fit: match that designation to the microphone’s barrel before choosing it. The 12cm length is the other useful detail; it tells you this is a compact cover, so consider the microphone’s length and the area you need covered when planning your setup. It’s a specialist size rather than a one-cover-fits-everything solution, which is exactly why those two numbers deserve attention.
