Rycote Cyclone Windjammer Medium

Rycote Cyclone Windjammer Medium | A medium-size cover for windy recording

Rycote Cyclone Windjammer Medium is a medium-size windjammer for reducing wind noise in microphone recordings. It suits filmmakers, interviewers and location sound recordists who need clearer audio when recording outdoors or in breezy conditions. A gust can make spoken audio difficult to use, so a windjammer is a practical part of a microphone setup when you’re recording outside. The key consideration with this model is size: it’s labelled Medium, so the fit needs to suit the microphone you plan to use it with. That makes it worth comparing the windjammer’s size with the microphone’s dimensions before building it into your kit. The name identifies its purpose and size category, but doesn’t identify a particular microphone model or recording system. Choose it for a matching medium-size setup rather than assuming it will fit every microphone.

Choosing the right fit

Think about the microphone you’ll actually record with, not just the conditions you expect. The Medium size is the defining detail here; a suitable fit matters if you want the windjammer to sit over the microphone as intended. For outdoor dialogue or location recording, it’s a straightforward accessory to consider when wind is a concern. The product name alone doesn’t establish compatibility with a specific microphone, so use the microphone’s dimensions as your guide.
