Saramonic Vmic Recorder VideoMic

Saramonic Vmic Recorder VideoMic | Record WAV audio on camera

A spoken introduction, interview or piece of event footage is rolling, and the Saramonic Vmic Recorder VideoMic gives your camera a way to record audio directly to a memory card. It records WAV files at 16-bit / 48 kHz to a MicroSDHC card, with support for cards up to 32GB. That gives DSLR and camcorder users a self-contained audio recorder in a microphone format, rather than relying only on the camera’s audio track. For a sit-down interview, it can record the voices as a separate WAV file; for a family video or a short piece of event coverage, it provides the same format and recording rate. The key distinction is that the Vmic Recorder has its own recording function as well as a cable connection for the camera’s audio input. That combination makes sense when you want a card-based recording alongside your camera workflow. The menus are operated through an LCD display, and a stereo headphone output lets you listen to incoming audio while recording. It’s a focused tool for video makers who want onboard audio recording and monitoring in one microphone.

Recording and Monitoring

• WAV recording at 16-bit / 48 kHz: This recording format and rate are suited to capturing dialogue for video projects. The files are recorded directly to a MicroSDHC card.
• MicroSDHC support up to 32GB: The recorder accepts cards up to this capacity. It’s a useful limit to keep in mind when choosing the card for a project.
• LCD display and menu: The display presents the recorder’s menu, with a layout described as easy to read. You can operate the recording functions from the unit itself.
• Stereo headphone output: Connect headphones to monitor incoming audio as you record. That gives you a way to listen to the signal rather than relying solely on the camera display.
• Detachable 3.5mm camera cable: The supplied connection type links the recorder to a camera’s audio input. Being removable also means the cable can be detached from the microphone when it isn’t connected to the camera.
• Standard-size camera shoe: The Vmic Recorder uses a standard-size shoe fitting for mounting on a camera. Its lightweight metal construction keeps the unit’s body light.
