Schneider CFG Radiant Black 1 6.6x6.6
Schneider CFG Radiant Black 1 6.6x6.6 | ND control in a square format
Without an ND filter, bright light can limit your choice of exposure: you may have to use a faster shutter speed or a smaller aperture than you want. The Schneider CFG Radiant Black 1 is an ND filter for photographers and filmmakers who need to manage the light reaching the camera while keeping control over their exposure. It’s suited to planned work where an ND filter is part of the setup, rather than a quick adjustment made after you arrive on location. Its role is straightforward: reduce incoming light so you can make exposure choices that suit the scene. That can help when you want to show movement in a bright setting, or retain a wider aperture in strong daylight. The product name identifies the filter, while the 6.6x6.6 format makes it relevant to setups designed around that size. It’s best used when you already know you need ND control and can plan your exposure around it.
Specialist Note
Are you asking whether the Radiant Black 1 is the right filter for controlling light? Yes, if you need an ND filter in this particular 6.6x6.6 format. The “Radiant Black 1” designation is the detail to use when identifying this specific filter; the size tells you what your filter setup needs to accommodate. I’d consider it for daylight scenes where you want motion to register during a longer exposure, or where you want to keep a wider aperture rather than stopping down. Set your exposure for the scene with the filter in place, since the result depends on your lighting and settings. It suits a deliberate, format-specific kit; it’s less convenient if you need a small, casual filter to carry loose.
