Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue 3mm 6.6x6.6
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue 3mm 6.6x6.6 | Add blue streaks to bright lights
Bright lights in a frame can look like plain points, even when you want a more graphic, cinematic flare. The Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue is a color filter that turns those highlights into blue streaks, giving practical lights, signs or headlights a more deliberate presence in the image. It suits filmmakers and cinematographers who want to shape flare in-camera rather than add the effect later. The result depends on your scene: you’ll need a visible bright source to create a pronounced streak, so it’s less useful when the frame has no strong highlights. Used with care, it can add a distinctive blue line without changing the subject into a different color effect. This filter is best for controlled shots where you can choose the position of a light in the frame and make that streak part of the composition.
Specialist Note
This is a deliberately visible effect, so it can overpower a quiet scene if the highlights are already busy. The reason to choose this version is its 3 mm streak width: it gives you a defined blue line while keeping the effect more contained than a broader streak. Its 6.6 x 6.6 format is worth planning around too; it’s made for a square cinema-filter setup, rather than a small screw-in filter arrangement. I’d use it with a bright practical or headlight kept in the frame, then adjust the composition until the streak supports the subject instead of cutting across it. It suits controlled narrative, music-video and commercial work where that blue flare is part of the look.
