The Ironstar is an interchangeable 75mm anamorphic cine lens designed for Full Frame sensors, with a 1.5x squeeze and a neutral flare character. That combination suits narrative work, music videos and other productions where framing and flare should feel considered rather than incidental. The 75mm focal length is useful when you want to give a subject clear presence within the frame, while keeping the composition controlled from a fixed camera position. Its purpose is firmly video and filmmaking, rather than general-purpose still photography. Choose it for planned shots and deliberate compositions where you can make the most of the anamorphic look; it’s less suited to situations that call for quick, automatic focusing.

Specialist Note

For a controlled dialogue setup, I’d begin at T2.8 and build the shot around a deliberate focus pull. That maximum aperture gives you room to work when the set isn’t especially bright, while still letting you choose how much of the scene stays in focus. Because this lens is made for Full Frame, I’d use it for a composed speaker shot or a measured shift of focus from a foreground detail to the actor.
