T1.2 gives you room to work when available light is limited, and can help separate a subject from its surroundings. Its 24mm focal length suits establishing shots, interiors and environmental portraits, where you want to include context around your subject. Manual focus makes it a natural fit for planned shots, interviews and narrative work where you can set and repeat your focus deliberately. It’s a specialist tool rather than an all-purpose autofocus lens: choose it when you want hands-on focus control and a wide view for video or filmmaking.

Specialist Note

T1.2 means you can open the iris wide when a scene gets dim, giving you more flexibility with available light. I’d consider this lens for an indoor dialogue scene or a night-time sequence; open up to T1.2 when you need the extra light, then use manual focus to keep attention on the speaker. The 24mm view also gives you room to show a person in their surroundings, which works well for an establishing shot. On a Canon APS-C RF-S body, it frames like a 38.4mm lens on full frame. That’s a useful, natural-looking perspective, though it won’t give the same broad framing as 24mm on full frame.
