Sirui Sniper 75mm f/1.2 Aps-C/S35 Auto-Focus Lens (Z Mount Silver) | Fast portrait focus for Nikon Z APS-C

Without a fast short-telephoto lens, portraits often need either more distance from the subject or a higher ISO as the light drops. The Sirui Sniper 75mm f/1.2 is an autofocus prime for Nikon Z cameras with APS-C sensors, aimed at photographers who want a tighter portrait view and a bright maximum aperture. Its 75mm focal length suits individual portraits, small event moments and details from a little way back; on a Nikon DX body, the framing is equivalent to 112.5mm on full frame. Open it to f/1.2 when you want to separate a face from a busy setting or keep working in dimmer available light. This is a specialist angle rather than an all-purpose walk-around view, so it makes most sense when portraits and events are a regular part of your photography. The silver finish gives this version a distinct look without changing the job it’s built to do.

Specialist Note

The 21° angle of view is quite narrow, so in a small room you may need to step back rather than try to fit more into the frame; that constraint is also what makes a subject feel prominent. For a head-and-shoulders portrait, I’d start at f/1.2, place the subject clear of a busy background and focus carefully on the face. At an event, it suits candid expressions from the edge of a gathering, where the longer view lets you frame people without standing right beside them. I’d choose it for someone who regularly makes portraits on a Nikon Z APS-C body, not as their only lens for cramped indoor scenes.
