SmallRig 1973B Universal Nato Clamp Support
SmallRig 1973B Universal Nato Clamp Support | A clamp support for tripod setups
Without a dedicated support, finding a place for a clamp-based connection in a tripod setup can turn into a bit of improvisation. The SmallRig 1973B Universal Nato Clamp Support is a tripod accessory intended to provide that support in a setup built around a NATO clamp. It suits photographers and videographers who are putting together a tripod-based rig and need this kind of connection as part of the arrangement. Its value is specific: it gives you a named support option to consider when planning how a NATO-clamp element fits into your setup, rather than treating the support point as an afterthought. The product name describes it as “Universal”, but that shouldn’t be taken as a promise that it fits every accessory or rig. Think of it as a purpose-led part for a tripod accessory setup where a NATO clamp support is what you need. If that matches your plan, the 1973B is a straightforward product to assess; if you need a different kind of connection, this isn’t the right description to rely on.
Specialist Note
“Is the 1973B a NATO-clamp support for a tripod setup?” Yes—that’s exactly how I’d think about it. The NATO clamp wording tells you what sort of connection the product is built around, so I’d start by checking that this is the interface your rig calls for. “Universal” makes it a general-purpose-labelled support, not a guarantee of fit with every accessory. I’d consider it when planning a tripod-based rig that needs a NATO-clamp support point, or when you want to make that connection part of the setup from the outset. My honest advice: choose it for that specific job, rather than expecting the name alone to settle compatibility with every part of your rig.
