Thypoch 28mm f/1.4 FullFrame For Leica M-Mount Black | Fast wide-angle perspective for street and travel

Street photography is often done with a standard lens, then you step back when the scene needs more room. This Thypoch 28mm f/1.4 gives Leica M users a wider view in a manual-focus prime lens, making it a considered option for street scenes and travel rather than a general-purpose zoom. Its 28mm focal length takes in more of the surroundings than a tighter view, which can help place a person or detail within the setting. The maximum f/1.4 aperture gives you more room to work when light falls, or when you want a shallower depth of field. It’s a full-frame lens with a 75° angle of view, so it can frame a lively street without requiring you to move far back. Manual focusing suits photographers who prefer to set focus themselves and work deliberately.

Specialist Note

Is the Thypoch 28mm f/1.4 too wide for everyday street work? I’d say it’s a lively, versatile angle if you want the setting to remain part of the picture. The f/1.4 maximum aperture gives you the option of a faster shutter in dim streets; for moving people, try around 1/250 sec and raise ISO as the light requires. Its 28mm view also gives you space to include a shopfront or a travel companion without making the subject feel detached from the place. This suits Leica M photographers comfortable with manual focus. The trade-off is that you’ll need to focus yourself, so it rewards a measured approach more than hurried snapshots.
