Tokina 127mm Pro IRND 1.5
Tokina 127mm Pro IRND 1.5 | A clearly identified ND filter size
The defining choice here is the 127mm size: it gives this filter a specific physical designation, so sizing your filter setup is the first practical step. Tokina names it as a Pro IRND 1.5, placing it in the ND filter category for photographers and filmmakers who want to reduce the light reaching the lens. That can help when you want a longer exposure or a wider aperture in bright conditions, though the exact exposure change depends on the scene and your settings. The 1.5 is part of the product’s designation; I wouldn’t treat it as a shutter-speed instruction on its own. This is a product for someone who already knows they need this particular filter size and wants the Tokina Pro IRND 1.5 by name. If you’re assembling a filter setup, make the 127mm measurement your starting point.
Specialist Note
Setup starts with one useful checkpoint: match the 127mm designation to the filter size your rig calls for. That saves you from choosing by the ND label alone. For a bright outdoor scene where you want a longer exposure, use the filter to cut incoming light, then set your shutter speed for the motion effect you want; for a shallower depth of field, it can help you keep a wider aperture in bright conditions. The “1.5” identifies this particular version, so it’s worth using the full name when you’re selecting or sorting filters. I’d recommend it to anyone whose setup specifically calls for 127mm. The size is the key limitation: it’s not a fit to assume for a different filter setup.
