TTArtisan 17mm f/1.4 For Sony E-Mount | APS-C Black | Broad views for landscapes and night skies

This TTArtisan is an ultra-wide prime for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras, with an 80° angle of view to bring a generous sweep of a scene into the frame. Its 17mm focal length suits landscape photographers who want foreground detail and a wide view of the surroundings, and it’s also a practical perspective for architecture and interiors. For night-sky photography, the broad view helps you include more of the sky and landscape together. The black finish keeps the look understated. This is a manual-focus lens, so it suits photographers who are happy to set focus themselves rather than rely on autofocus. If you’re building a small, specific kit around wide compositions, it gives you a focused option for those subjects without trying to cover every kind of photography.

Specialist Note

f/1.4 lets a lot of light reach the sensor, which is especially helpful when you’re photographing stars and want to keep ISO or exposure time in check. I’d focus manually on a bright star, then make a test frame and refine focus before settling into the composition. That hands-on approach also suits architecture: take a moment to set focus carefully, then arrange the strong lines and edges within the broad view. The manual focus makes this less suited to situations where you need autofocus to react quickly. For considered landscape, building and astro work, though, that deliberate pace can be part of the appeal.
