Ulanzi WM-02 Pro Shotgun Microphone w/ Monitoring | Aim your sound and monitor as you record

Unclear dialogue can make a video feel unfinished, even when the picture is right. The Ulanzi WM-02 Pro Shotgun Microphone w/ Monitoring is for creators who want a microphone aimed at the sound they care about, with monitoring available while recording. Its shotgun format suits focused recording of a speaker, such as a presenter addressing the camera or a person in an interview; it’s less suited to capturing a whole room as an even mix. Monitoring gives you a way to listen during the take rather than relying only on playback afterwards. That can help you catch a voice that’s too quiet or an unwanted sound while there’s still time to adjust. If you make video and want a direct way to pay attention to dialogue, this Ulanzi keeps the focus on spoken audio while you record.

Specialist Note

A shotgun microphone is a focused tool, so I wouldn’t choose it to capture a whole room evenly. The reason I’d consider this WM-02 Pro is the combination named in the product: a shotgun mic and monitoring. Aim it toward a presenter speaking to camera or the person answering in an interview, then use monitoring as you record so you can listen for dialogue that’s dropping away or competing with background sound. That makes sense for a solo creator who wants to pay attention to spoken audio during the take, not just afterwards. Keep the expectation practical: its stated role is focused microphone use with monitoring.
