Urth 39mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro

Urth 39mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro | Balance light and reflections

For video in changing light, a variable neutral density filter lets you keep a chosen shutter speed while adjusting how much light reaches the camera; the CPL element also helps manage reflections. The Urth 39mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro combines those filter types in a 39mm size. It suits photographers and filmmakers whose lenses take a 39mm filter and who want to adjust exposure without swapping between separate ND strengths. The ND2–32 range gives room to reduce incoming light as conditions change, while the circular polarising function is useful when reflections on surfaces are part of the scene. Think of bright daylight video, or a reflective window where you want more control over glare. This is a specific filter size, so it belongs on a lens with a matching 39mm filter thread; it isn't a universal fit.

Using the ND and CPL combination

Variable ND strength is useful when you want to change exposure without changing aperture or shutter speed. The ND2–32 markings correspond to a light reduction from 1 to 5 stops. The CPL function addresses a different concern: it can reduce reflections and alter the appearance of polarised light, such as reflections from glass or water. Having both functions in one filter gives you a single adjustment point for these jobs, rather than carrying separate filters for each purpose. For video, that can make it easier to keep exposure consistent as the light changes; for stills, it gives you a way to control reflected light while reducing exposure.
