Urth 55mm ND64 (6 Stop) Lens Filter Pro
Urth 55mm ND64 (6 Stop) Lens Filter Pro | Create longer exposures in bright light
Without a neutral density filter, bright conditions can leave you with a shutter speed too fast for the motion blur you want. The Urth 55mm ND64 reduces the light reaching the camera by six stops, giving you room to use a longer exposure in daylight. It’s suited to photographers who want to soften flowing water, blur moving clouds or capture other motion without waiting for dimmer light. The ND64 strength is especially useful when you want a clearly slower shutter speed; it also means you’ll need to account for a substantial reduction in light when setting exposure. This is a fixed-strength filter, so it won’t let you dial the density up or down. If that six-stop step fits the effect you have in mind, it offers a straightforward way to work with motion in brighter scenes.
Specialist Note
For a bright stream, I’d meter the scene first, then use the ND64’s six-stop reduction to bring the shutter speed down: a reading of 1/125s becomes roughly 1/2s, before you fine-tune exposure. That’s a practical starting point for turning rushing water into a softer flow. You can use the same approach with moving clouds, choosing a longer shutter time when the light allows. The 55mm size is the measurement to match to your lens’s filter thread, so check that dimension before choosing this filter. It suits photographers who want a deliberate six-stop change; in dim light, that much reduction may be more than you need.
