Urth 55mm Variable ND2 32 Filter Pro
Urth 55mm Variable ND2 32 Filter Pro | Control exposure in changing light
Urth’s defining choice here is variable neutral density: one filter lets you adjust light reduction across an ND2–32 range, rather than changing filters as conditions shift. That’s useful when you want to keep your chosen aperture or shutter speed while the available light changes. For example, reducing the light reaching the sensor can let you use a slower shutter in daylight to show movement in water. It also gives you room to keep a wider aperture when the scene is bright. This filter suits photographers and filmmakers who want that exposure control with a single filter on a lens with a 55mm filter thread. Its appeal is the adjustable range and the ability to fine-tune it while working. It’s a focused tool for managing light, not a filter for changing the colour or contrast of a scene.
Specialist Note
At a riverside in late afternoon, the stream is still bright enough to demand a fast shutter; this is where the ND32 end earns its place. If your unfiltered exposure is around 1/1000s, the strongest setting can bring that to roughly 1/30s at the same aperture and ISO, letting moving water blur while the banks stay sharp. The 55mm size suits a lens with a matching filter thread, so it’s worth treating that measurement as the key fit detail. I’d recommend it to someone who wants to shape shutter speed without swapping filters. The range is useful, though it can’t reduce light beyond its ND32 limit.
