Urth 77mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL) | Manage reflections and UV light

Cut distracting reflections from water or glass and make skies look deeper with a polarising filter. The Urth 77mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL) is a filter kit identified for 77mm use, with UV and CPL designations. It suits photographers who want these filter types available for outdoor scenes, landscapes and reflective surfaces. A circular polariser can reduce glare when you turn it to suit the scene; that can reveal detail which reflections would otherwise obscure. The UV designation points to a filter for ultraviolet light, while the CPL designation identifies the polarising option. This kit is most useful when reflections are getting between you and the subject, rather than as an effect you need on every frame. The 77mm size is the key detail to match to your lens’s filter fitting before choosing it.

Specialist Note

Glare can make a clear view across water or through a shop window surprisingly hard to photograph. The CPL designation is the part to reach for there: turn the polariser while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen, and stop when the reflection falls away to the level you want. It can also deepen a blue sky when the sun is off to the side of your shooting direction. The 77mm size gives you a clear fit reference for choosing a lens to use it with. I’d favour this kit for someone who often photographs outdoors or through reflective surfaces; just remember that polarisation changes with your angle to the light, so the effect won’t be identical in every composition.
