Viltrox Anamorphic Cine 75mm T2.0 1.33X PL Mount
Viltrox Anamorphic Cine 75mm T2.0 1.33X PL Mount | Shape a widescreen image
For narrative video and filmmaking, this lens helps create a widescreen composition with the distinctive perspective of a 75mm view. The Viltrox Anamorphic Cine 75mm T2.0 1.33X PL Mount is an interchangeable cinema lens with a 1.33× anamorphic squeeze; the recorded image needs to be de-squeezed in post-production to display at the correct proportions. It’s suited to filmmakers who want to build anamorphic framing into a production, rather than create a wider frame by cropping later. The PL mount and manual focus make it a considered tool for planned shots, with the operator controlling focus directly. A 75mm focal length lends itself to dialogue scenes, portraits and other tighter compositions where you can set the camera position and frame carefully. Its maximum T2 aperture also gives you room to work with less light than you’d need at a smaller aperture. This is a specialist cinema lens for video and filmmaking, not an all-purpose view for every setup.
Specialist Note
This lens gives you an anamorphic widescreen image without having to create the framing with a crop in post. For a dialogue close-up, the 75mm focal length gives you a tighter view; set your camera position, then follow the performer with a deliberate manual focus pull. At T2, you can open the lens to its maximum aperture when the scene is dim, though focus becomes more demanding, so plan your pull rather than leaving it to chance. I’d point it towards filmmakers who can take time to shape individual shots and want anamorphic framing as part of that process. One practical limit: 75mm is a narrow, specific view, so it won’t replace a wider lens when you need to show more of a location.
