Viltrox DG-FU Automatic Extension Tube

Viltrox DG-FU Automatic Extension Tube - automatic camera communication

Aluminium gives the Viltrox DG-FU Automatic Extension Tube a durable housing, while its automatic contacts keep camera functions available for close-up work. This is an extension tube for photographers who want to focus closer with a lens and achieve greater magnification, without replacing that lens with a dedicated close-up optic. Use it for close-up photographs of small subjects, for filling more of the frame with details, or for exploring a lens's closer focusing range. Those uses follow from the tube’s core job: it shortens a lens’s minimum focusing distance and increases its maximum magnification. Gold-plated contacts retain autofocus and automatic exposure, so the camera and lens continue to communicate while you work at close range. That electronic connection is the useful distinction between this automatic tube and a simple spacer. The product information identifies it as the DG-FU model; the supplied description gives no tube lengths or camera-system details for this version.

What it does

• Shorter minimum focusing distance: An extension tube changes how close a lens can focus, bringing small subjects within its close-up range. It’s a direct way to explore detail photography with a lens you already own.
• Greater maximum magnification: The added extension increases the largest image magnification available from the lens. That matters when you want a subject’s fine details to occupy more of the photograph.
• Automatic electronic contacts: Gold-plated contacts maintain autofocus and automatic exposure functionality. You can keep those camera-controlled features available during close-up shooting rather than relying on a purely mechanical connection.
• Aluminium construction: The tube is made from aluminium alloy, providing a durable structure for an accessory that sits between the camera and lens. Its material is a clear, practical detail to consider when choosing an extension tube.
• For close-up photography: Its purpose is to make closer focusing and higher magnification possible with a lens. That makes it relevant for detailed subjects and small objects, rather than for changing a lens’s focal length.
