Westcott MV95 Mini V-Mount 14.8V Lithium-ION Battery (95WH)

Westcott MV95 Mini V-Mount 14.8V Lithium-ION Battery (95WH) | A compact V-mount power option

For a shoot built around V-mount power, the Westcott MV95 Mini V-Mount 14.8V Lithium-ION Battery gives you a 95Wh battery to consider for powering your setup. It’s aimed at filmmakers and other camera crews who need a V-mount battery and want to compare capacity and voltage against their equipment’s power requirements. The name also tells you the battery uses lithium-ion technology and is a Mini model. That makes the MV95 most useful when those specific details match what you’re looking for; it isn’t a reason to assume it suits every rig. If you’re choosing between batteries, start with the requirements of your equipment rather than the word “Mini” alone. A battery’s size label doesn’t tell the whole story of whether it suits a particular setup. The MV95 gives you a clear set of figures to use in that comparison.

Voltage and watt-hours describe different parts of a battery’s power specification, so it’s worth comparing both with the requirements for your equipment. Capacity can help you weigh one battery against another, but it doesn’t tell you exactly how long a particular setup will run: that depends on the power draw of the equipment in use. For a working kit, that’s a more useful distinction than judging a battery by its name alone.

There’s a practical limit to what the product name can tell you. It identifies the battery format, chemistry, voltage and capacity, but those figures still need to suit the equipment you plan to power. Treat the MV95 as a specific battery to assess against your setup, not as a universal answer for every camera or accessory. That’s the sensible way to decide if it belongs in your kit.
