XEEN 135mm T2.2 FF Cine Nikon | Tight, controlled framing for film

Long-lens framing can turn a busy location into an intimate shot, keeping attention on a face or a small detail. The XEEN 135mm T2.2 FF Cine Nikon is an interchangeable short-telephoto prime for filmmakers who want a deliberate, controlled perspective on Nikon camera systems. Its 135mm focal length and full-frame coverage suit narrative scenes, interviews and carefully framed inserts, where you can position the camera back and keep the subject’s expression prominent. This is a cinema lens for video and filmmaking, rather than a general-purpose zoom: you work with one fixed focal length and choose your camera position to build the frame. It suits crews and independent filmmakers who plan their shots and want a dedicated long view for a scene. For run-and-gun work or quickly changing compositions, a prime like this calls for more repositioning than a zoom.

Specialist Note

This XEEN handles a tight dialogue close-up while letting the camera stay well back from the actors. Its 18° angle of view gives you a deliberately narrow frame, handy for isolating a speaker or picking out a detail without including the whole room. At T2.2, you can open the aperture to gather more light in a dim interior and soften the background behind a portrait. The manual focus suits a planned scene: set focus on the speaker’s eyes, then make a considered pull when the action shifts. I’d point it towards filmmakers who can take time to set a frame; if the subject moves around a lot, you’ll need to follow focus carefully.
