This 35mm standard prime gives filmmakers a fixed perspective to build a shot around, with a fast maximum aperture of T1.5 for working with limited light or shaping depth of field. Its Full Frame coverage suits productions using larger-format sensors, while the PL mount makes it relevant to filmmakers working with PL-mount camera systems. Focus is manual, so it’s made for deliberate focus work rather than quick autofocus. That can be a real advantage when focus needs to follow a planned move, but it does ask for attention from the operator or focus puller. Use it for interviews, dialogue scenes and considered camera moves where a dependable 35mm framing matters. As a prime, it won’t zoom; you’ll change the composition by moving the camera.

Specialist Note

Manual focus is a commitment, and it’s the main thing I’d weigh before choosing this lens. The payoff is a bright T1.5 maximum aperture: for a dim interior or an evening dialogue scene, you can open up to make better use of the available light.
