Zoom SGH-6 (UK)

Zoom SGH-6 - tightly focused shotgun microphone capsule

Background sound can make it harder to capture the voice or event you’re recording. The Zoom SGH-6 is a hyperdirectional shotgun microphone capsule that adds focused pickup to compatible Zoom recorders and audio devices. Its directional design suits film and video recording, where you want the microphone to favour a particular sound source. It’s also a useful option for recording live theatre or reporting, with the capsule attaching to a compatible Zoom device rather than requiring a separate microphone. The SGH-6 works with the H5 and H6 Handy Recorders, Q8 Handy Video Recorder, U-44 Handy Audio Interface, and F4 and F8 MultiTrack Field Recorders. A windscreen is included to address wind noise. The main point to note is its system-specific compatibility: this capsule is made for the listed Zoom devices, not a general-purpose microphone.

Highlights

• Hyperdirectional shotgun design: The capsule’s focused pickup favours sound from a particular direction. That makes it a suitable option for recording a subject or event in film, video, theatre and reporting work.
• For H5 and H6 recorders: Add the capsule to either Zoom Handy Recorder for a directional microphone setup. It gives these compatible recorders a different pickup option for location recording.
• Works with the Q8: The SGH-6 is compatible with Zoom’s Q8 Handy Video Recorder. This combines video recording with the capsule’s shotgun microphone format.
• Compatible with the U-44: The Zoom U-44 Handy Audio Interface is among the devices listed for use with this capsule. That makes the SGH-6 relevant beyond the Handy Recorder range.
• For F4 and F8 field recorders: The capsule also fits Zoom’s F4 and F8 MultiTrack Field Recorders, extending its use to those field-recording systems.
• Windscreen included: The supplied windscreen is there to reduce wind noise reaching the microphone. It’s a useful inclusion when recording where wind could affect the sound.
