7Artisans 16mm T2.1 Fujifilm X-Mount
7Artisans 16mm T2.1 Fujifilm X-Mount | Wide, bright framing for video
The 7Artisans 16mm T2.1 Fujifilm X-Mount is an ultra-wide prime with a bright T2.1 maximum aperture, built for filmmakers using Fujifilm X APS-C cameras. Its 16mm focal length gives a broad view—about 24mm equivalent on this format—so it suits establishing shots, interiors and scenes where you want a subject within its surroundings. Manual focus makes it a lens for deliberate, hands-on focusing rather than quick autofocus adjustments. The T2.1 rating gives you room to work with available light and flexibility when setting exposure for video. With an estimated 83° angle of view, it can take in a substantial stretch of a location without stepping far back. This is a focused video tool for creators who want an expansive perspective and are comfortable setting focus themselves; it’s less suited to anyone who relies on autofocus.
Specialist Note
Set focus by hand, settle your framing, and this wide view lets you build a shot around both a person and the place they’re in. I’d consider it for a small-room interview or an establishing shot in a dim interior: opening to T2.1 gives you more exposure latitude than stopping down, while manual focus rewards taking a moment to set the focal plane before recording. It suits video makers who plan their shots rather than depend on autofocus. One thing to watch is the amount of the scene in frame; busy backgrounds can distract, so keep the edges tidy and choose your camera position with care.
