7Artisans AF40mm f/2.5 - L-Mount - FullFrame - Black
7Artisans AF40mm f/2.5 - L-Mount - FullFrame - Black | A natural view for street and travel
The 7Artisans AF40mm f/2.5 is a 40mm standard prime for Leica L-mount full-frame cameras, made for photographers who want an autofocus lens for everyday street and travel work. Its natural-feeling angle of view keeps a scene readable without pushing you too far from the action, so it suits candid moments, street details and travel portraits where you want context around your subject. Autofocus makes it easier to respond when people move through the frame, while the fixed focal length encourages a deliberate way of composing: step closer for a detail, or take in more of the setting from where you stand. This is a straightforward lens for photographers who prefer one considered viewpoint over carrying several focal lengths. Use it for walks through town, changing street scenes and travel days when a simple, consistent perspective is more useful than zoom flexibility.
Specialist Note
Photographers who come home with street corners, passing faces and small travel details in the frame are the people I’d point toward this lens. At f/2.5, you can use a faster shutter in dimmer cafés or evening streets than you could at a smaller aperture; try around 1/125 sec for people moving casually, and raise ISO if the light calls for it. Its 40mm standard-prime view leaves room for some surroundings without making a subject feel far away, so I’d use it for a travel portrait with the setting still visible. The honest trade-off is fixed framing: you’ll need to move rather than zoom, which can be awkward when space is tight.
