Avenger Boom Arm w/ SLDNG Attach Black

Avenger Boom Arm w/ SLDNG Attach Black | Position a lamp beyond the stand

Place a lamp above or beside your subject, and keep the stand itself out of the part of the scene you’re arranging. The Avenger Boom Arm w/ SLDNG Attach Black is a boom arm with a sliding attachment, finished in black. It’s suited to photographers and other studio users who need a lamp positioned off to one side rather than directly over its stand. That can make a difference when you’re lighting a tabletop subject, a portrait setup or a work area and want more freedom around the space below. The sliding attachment gives you a way to adjust where the lamp sits along the arm. The practical appeal is straightforward: you can shape the position of the light without having the stand occupy the same spot. It’s a focused support accessory, not a lamp or a stand on its own.

Working with a boom arm

A boom arm is useful when the position that suits your light isn’t the same position that suits the stand. Think of a small subject on a table: the lamp may need to come in from above, while the stand is more conveniently placed outside the working area. The arm helps bridge that gap, leaving room to reach the subject and arrange the scene. It can also help keep the stand away from the view you’re composing. There’s no need to make the setup more complicated than it is; the point is simply to place the lamp where the scene calls for it. This Avenger model is a practical option when that off-centre placement is the reason you’re looking for a boom arm.
